Birth of A Community Jewel

The Palm Desert Aquatic Center is the result of a partnership between the City of Palm Desert and the Family YMCA of the Desert; built with the goal of providing a world-class swim and recreational facility to Palm Desert resident’s and visitors. Construction began in 2010, and after just over a year, it opened its doors in 2011. The center was an instant hit. Providing both fitness opportunities as well as leisure activities to children and families.

A Haven for Water Enthusiasts

Spread across more than 8 acres, the Palm Desert Aquatic Center houses three pools: an Olympic-size pool for serious swimmers; a recreational pool with playful features; and a kiddie pool for little ones who like to wade.

The Olympic pool is designed for competitive swimming. Served by ample lanes and boasting proper depth to accommodate training pools & events, it is ideal for professional swimmers as well as those who are learning to dive. The family-favorite recreational pool boasts slides and other play features that can provide hours on end of fun, while also providing relaxation areas for adults looking to take it easy. Last but not least, the kiddie pool gives parents peace-of-mind knowing their toddlers are playing safely.

A Hub Of Aquatic Activities

Though swimming classes are offered, there’s much more than just swimming at the center such as: aqua aerobics classes, water polo teams (and accompanying programs), diving classes, synchronized-swimming lessons and lifeguard training programs.
